About the instructors
Saar Klemperer - African Drumming
Saar Klemperer - certified African drumming teacher with over 20 years of experience in the field. Leads workshops and courses across Israel, primarily in Tel Aviv, specializing in traditional rhythms from West Africa.
Adi Zellinger - African Dance
Adi Zellinger - dancer and researcher of African dance since 2010. Studied and specialized in Ghana, Guinea, Mali and Burkina Faso. Former member of the Tararam and Bangura ensembles. A leading teacher in the field, teaches African dance at all levels and is completing her BA in dance at Seminar HaKibbutzim.
Sela Dai - African Drumming
Sela Dai - well-known African drummer with extensive experience in performance and teaching. Specializes in advanced techniques and impressive solos.
Itai Reznik - African Drumming
Itai Reznik - drummer and performer since age 10. He caught the djembe-dundun fever in 2011 and hasn't stopped studying across Africa, teaching groups and creating original live music combined with electronic production. Producer of the Mama Africa festival and other cultural events.
During the weekend we'll focus on a particularly challenging and joyful rhythm — learn it in depth, the djembe and dundun roles, breaks and solos, play for the dance, and learn dance steps that match the playing.
Throughout the weekend there will be African drumming workshops, a dance workshop for drummers, a guided jam session, and a free playing circle.
A weekend like this is a wonderful opportunity to learn a rhythm in depth — including accompaniment roles, dundun parts, songs, dance, and traditional solos.
