West African Drumming for Adults

Come and play Djembe with us in a weekly class of West African Drumming. drums.

In our weekly drum classes, we explore the traditional rhythm world of West Africa,
discovering rhythms that have been passed down over 800 years of drum learning from father to son, telling the story of an ancient culture.

We will learn special rhythms, traditional solo phrases on djembe drums, Dundun accompayments and variations, more complex playing pieces and special transitions. We will practice and build a performance.

At the end of each session, we'll reach a hi energetic point through drumming, we'll go through a very powerful and sensitive place, where each person will gain a unique personal experience

Conducted Jam Nights

Every month we hold a traditional jam session where we can practice rhythms that we've learned and experience free playing and improvisation "without strictrules"

The jam sessions have become a unique experience and we look forward to them eagerly. The traditional jam is a unique powerful spiritual experience and represents a leap forward in the development of the participants and the group as a whole.

West African Dance

WestAfrican dance combines energetic, diverse and rhythmic movements that express joy, strength, work and gratitude.

The movements are based on the tradition and tribal roots of the African continent. Each dance is adapted to a specific drum rhythm (where each rhythm symbolizes and expresses a different reason/event).

African dance to the sound of drums brings us to release and joy, connects us with our inner rhythm and links us to a colorful and ancient culture whose rhythms are all connected to African ceremonies.

Every year we hold international lessons and workshops for learning African dance accompanied by drums led by artists from abroad.

Drumming in Dance Classes

Our advanced group plays weekly in a Dance class where Live percussion is integrated into dance classes.

Drummers learn to support dancers, hold rhythmic roles, and play complex phrases.

Playing in dance classes helps learn drumming and is an essential stage in the drummer's development. Playing djembe in dance classes is highly recommended for players interested in flying to Africa and experiencing tribal playing "firsthand" in West Africa.
